Plumber’s Helper is one of the largest charter fishing boats in Northern Lake Michigan and can comfortably accommodate you and your group. The boat has plenty of room to store all your belongings and space to walk around, especially great for kids. Young or old, experienced or novice, we offer a safe, fun and comfortable experience not possible with some of the smaller vessels on the water.
Plumber’s Helper Charter Service provides top-of-the-line fishing equipment and tackle, as well as multiple fish finders, to make your trip a success. If you want to go on a boating excursion, we can arrange that for you as well. You can even bring your own food and beverage aboard.
Our boat is loaded with radar, GPS navigation systems, depth finders, Coast Guard-approved life jackets and safety equipment, and an inflatable 8-man life raft. The captains are licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard, and the boat and equipment are inspected by the Michigan DNR. Enjoy a safe and carefree trip!
Captain Jim is a licensed plumbing contractor (now retired) who previously owned and operated Great Lakes Plumbing, Heating & AC in Petoskey and Indian River for over 30 years. When Jim first started up the company, he used a much smaller boat to run service calls back and forth to Mackinac Island and dubbed it “Plumber’s Helper.”
Jim was also involved in tournament fishing and was known around the tournament circuit by that same name. When he started charter fishing, the name had stuck!
